The Great Easter Gettaway
We’re heading towards some of the busiest travelling days in the year, as thousands of people take to the road to make the most of the Easter bank holidays. If you’re taking a trip this Easter, beat the travel chaos and traffic hold ups with a bit of pre-planning and simple vehicle preparation.
Pre-planning
• Avoid busy roads and being stuck in queues by setting off early or leave later in the day when the roads are likely to be quieter.
• Check your route ahead for roadworks or incidents so you can look for alternatives.
• Fill up with fuel locally before you travel (this may also save you money because motorway services often charge more per litre than non-motorway fuel stations).
• Avoid busy roadside service stations, there are alternatives such as taking your own snacks and drinks and finding a picnic stop on the way or looking for small local businesses along your route (try The Extra Mile Guide for ideas -
https://venues.theextramile.guide/ ).
Pre-travel vehicle checks
• Check tyre pressures and treads (ideally minimum 3mm tread).
• Top up fluids e.g. engine oil, coolant and screen wash.
• Check all lights are clean and working.
• Inspect your wiper blades for fatigue and make sure they clear your windscreen properly.
Tip: Carrying out regular servicing and maintenance on your vehicle will help keep it up together and ready for a trip whenever you need it.
Easter closure dates
Please note we will be closed on 18 Aprl (Good Friday) and 21st April (Easter Monday).
We are always extra busy after Bank Holidays so bear this in mind when booking in scheduled jobs such as MOT’s and services. Our bookings usually run 4-5 weeks ahead.

Potholes!
Reports suggest that the roads in Salisbury and around Wiltshire are among the worst in the country. After providing assistance to a number of drivers near our premises on the A30 Andover - Salisbury road this month, we thought we would offer advice on these exteremly dangerous and damaging hazards.
See Ray's Tips as to what to watch out for if you happen to hit one.
